Josephine's Struggles: Chapter 3

Chapter 3: Just Another Day

The sun rose and Jackson was still asleep so I stayed near the house to look for frogs and dig up rocks. I already made $165 and with the money left over from yesterday, I was able to buy a shower and some blocks for Jackson.
I know Jax well enough that he needs to use the potty in the morning, but he decided to be disobedient and not listen to me. I'm going to count to 5 then try again.

Only he would throw a temper tantrum because I am busy taking care of the plants instead of playing with him.

While Jackson played with his blocks, I made us some grilled fruit.

After eating his lunch, Jackson decided that he needed a nap. I am ever so grateful so I can have a few moments of peace and quiet.

When I came back from fishing, Jackson had woken up from a nightmare. In the few words that he knows, he said he was scared that he was going to be taken away. I assured him that I will not let that happen so now he's ready to go potty and back to bed. Actually, I could use a nap myself.

Our naps turned into actually going to bed as I slept through the night. Today was exhausting, but at least I earned $328 and that is definitely a record for me so far.

Josephine's Struggles: Chapter 2

Chapter 2: Surviving Together

We woke up hungry so we went to the park where I grilled some sausage and peppers for us. I spent $48 to make this dish, but at least we have something to eat. On the plus side, I found two rocks to dig up so hopefully that will help the cost of the food.
I sold a capsule and a rare gemstone, which earned me $100 then I had to buy Jackson a potty so I can potty train him and that was $75.

I had no idea it would be this difficult to be on my own, but I am determined to make it. This is not just about me because my baby brother is my whole world so this is more about him than anyone. I want him to be proud of me and I want to be a better "parent" to him than our own parents were. I believe that he will thrive being raised by me...I just can't let him down.

I told Jackson to try to use his potty again, and he told me no. Can you believe it? I don't think I was that defiant at his age, but maybe I was. This is where I have to put my foot down and make sure he knows that I am in charge.

My sweet little Jackson was sad because he had an accident while using his potty. I reassured him that it's okay because even adults make mistakes.

I figured a little play time would cheer him up and boy was I right. He is such a happy baby boy and I am so thankful to be part of him growing up.

Since we have some down time, I thought I'd work on his communication skills and teach him to talk. This might take awhile lol.

For dinner, I made us some hot dogs as it was cheaper to make.

It has been a long day. I earned $149 today, which is very good. Tomorrow I plan on having someone give me an estimate on what it will cost to build a house.

Josephine's Struggles: Chapter 1

Chapter 1: The Beginning

I have no idea how to raise a toddler or a child, but I want better for my baby brother than the life that I have had under my parents' roof. In order to not raise suspicion, I have dropped out of high school so that I can raise Jackson and earn money for us so that I can build us a house. That's my dream anyway. I know that my life has never gone according to plan.
Today I earned $160 from gardening, digging, and finding frogs. I also planted a snapdragon flower and an apple, which I hope does well so I can sell them also. Now I need to see if I have enough for Jackson's bed because his needs matter more than my own.

Turns out there was this used mattress on the side of the street that someone was throwing away because their toddler outgrew it. There didn't appear to be anything wrong with it so I took it and the bedding that was on it. I knew that if I talked to the owners then they would report us so I got it while it was dark. Now Jackson has his own bed and now I can feel better knowing that he at least has a comfortable bed to sleep in.

As luck would have it, about a few feet in the other direction of our "house" was a child's mattress that was left on the curb for pickup. While Jackson was sleeping, I walked over to check the mattress and blanket out. Surprisingly, there didn't appear to be anything wrong with this set either so i hauled it over to our lot. I must say that it weighed a lot more than it looked so it wasn't easy dragging it, carefully, but I got it.

Now to get a restful night's sleep until tomorrow where I continue to earn enough money to build us a house.

Josephine's Struggles: Intro

Chapter 1: Introduction

Sul-Sul!! My name is Josephine Anderson, but my friends call me quite a few different nicknames such as Joey, Jo, and Lil J.

My parents, siblings, and I seemed like the perfect family and we were...to outsiders. All was not perfect inside of the Anderson household. My older sister, Carlie, is picture perfect and is now one of the top attorneys in San Myshuno. My parents were so focused on making sure that I was just like Carlie that they started to neglect Jackson, my younger brother, since he was a baby. One day I came home from school and Department of Children and Families was there due to reports they received. Apparently someone said that I was malnourished so they followed up on an investigation and found that Jack was also malnourished. They gave my parents 48 hours to improve the situation or DCF would take my brother and I into foster care. I have heard horror stories about foster care and I could not let either of us be taken away. Even though our home life was not as wonderful as some would think, anywhere would be better than here. In the middle of the night, I packed up what little belongings I could and ran away with Jack. This way no one could take us away or force us to live a life of misery.

My dad Erick, my older sister Carlie, and my mom Sophie.

Me and my younger brother Jackson.

Eternal Hope: Day 13

Day 13: All's Well That Ends Well

I woke up bright and early. I did a bit of gardening and a neighbor bought my veggies and flowers though that surprised me. ~Sabrina

I think Sam's still asleep, but I don't know ~Sabrina
So Sabrina has no idea of my new look. I've been hiding this stuff in my backpack because I knew my parents wouldn't approve. I can finally be myself thanks to Sabrina. I hope she won't be mad. !Sam!

Sabrina: Oh my word Sam. I don't even recognize you. What did you do?
Sam: Mom and dad have had me under this strict image of rich snob goody goody two shoes. I've hated it. I can finally be myself thanks to you.
Sabrina: Well that's great, but what will mom and dad think whenever we get them to come over?
Sam:Well we'll find out sooner than later.
Sabrina: What do you mean? I never called them.
Sam: I did last night.
Sabrina: Oh no. What did you say?
Sam: I stood my ground that I wasn't going to move home and that they needed to give you a second chance. They're coming over today.
Sabrina: You choose now to change your look?
Sam: Maybe they'll see that you've allowed me to be me?
Sabrina: No they're going to think I had a bad influence on you. Oh what to do...
Sam:  It'll be okay. Just please back me up on this.
Sabrina: If I want you to stay here, which I do, then I have to back you up. I wish this new look would've waited, but it's okay. The fact that you feel that comfortable here and with me means a lot.
Sam: Thanks Sabrina. I was worried how you'd react.
Sabrina: I was just surprised since I had no idea. We'll get through this together.
Sam: Yes we will.

So my parents will be here soon and my sister looks goth. I'm quite nervous how things will go. ~Sabrina

There's been no mention of my look by dad. I'm surprised. I'm sure he has to notice. It's quite a big difference. ~Sam

Mom: This is a nice place you have here Sabrina.
Sabrina: Wow thanks mom. I've worked really hard the past, almost, two weeks to get where I am today.
Mom: I can see that. It definitely shows.

Mom: I'm proud of you.
Sabrina: OMG thank you mom!!

Sabrina: What do you think dad?
Dad: About what?
Sabrina: Me, the house, Sam being here, everything.
Dad: Well I love the house, but I'm not happy with Sam's new look.
Sam: You noticed?
Dad: How could I not notice? You look like Sabrina painted you with black paint.
Mom: Sam, why the change?
Sam: I always felt like I was supposed to be a certain way while living with you two. As soon as I moved in here, I changed my entire appearnce.
Mom: Did you know about this Sabrina?
Sabrina: Yes I did and I fully support it.
Dad: How could you allow your sister to turn into...this...?
Sabrina: Freedom of self expression. She has every right to dress and look how she wants. I'm not going to tell her what to do with her own body.
Dad: That's what parenting is all about.
Mom: No it's not dear. Sabrina's right.
Dad: You can't possibly agree with this.
Mom: But I do. We should've let Sam be her own person instead of making her like us.
Dad: What would the people at the country club think?
Mom: They can think whatever they want about her. She's our daughter no matter what.
Sabrina: ahem
Mom: Yes, I know you're our daughter too. I shouldn't have let you leave like that. I'm sorry.
Dad: I'm not sorry. I expect my children to behave a certain way and look a certain way. If you can't respect that Amanda then we have no business being married.
Mom: Excuse me, Roger? You would divorce me because I support our daughters?
Dad: Yes I would because you were behind me on this.
Mom: That was a mistake on my part. I was never happy about disowning Sabrina, but you were adamant about it so I went with it. I wish I had never agreed to it.

Dad: Then that's it. I'm not listening to anymore of this. None of you are welcomed into my home ever again. You can move out Amanda and live with your pathetic daughters. I'm done with all of you.
Sam and Sabrina: Dad you can't be serious. You've been married for 30 years.
Dad: This is major girls and I wouldn't expect either of you to understand.
Sam: You can't just walk away from mom like that.
Mom: It's okay girls. Part of me expected this from him. I had hoped that it wouldn't have gone this way, but it did.
Sabrina: I'm sure Sam won't mind if you move in here with us, right?
Sam: You can absolutely move in with us. We have plenty of room.
Dad: Plenty of room? We barely have room to talk.
Sabrina: For mom, it's not a problem. We will make it work.
Mom: I get half of that money in the divorce Roger.
Dad: Fine, but that's the last dime you'll ever see from me.

So that's mom behind us officially living here, but she's so heartbroken. Dad was her first and only love. Sam and I will do everything we can to help her. ~Sabrina
Thanks to the demand mom made with dad, we now have over $250k. I'm not sure what Sabrina has planned, but I can't wait to see what she does with the money. I know she'll use it on the house and save some. !Sam!

So with part of the money, I gave the house a complete makeover from the outside to the inside. I'm ready to post pictures of our "new" home that is the perfect size for 3 people.

So the changes that were made: changed it to stone, which wasn't easy. Re-did the roof since I added onto the house. Added a decorative fence in the front with some flowers for color. New front door and some exterior lighting. ~Sabrina

The area that had my bed, dresser, etc is now just the dining area. The two doors next to each other are my mom's room then my room. ~Sabrina

This is mom's room, which has everything I know she wants. Smaller than at dad's house, but I hope she adjusts. ~Sabrina

My room is the same except a bigger desk and I bought me a real camera. Oh I added two windows WOOH lol ~Sabrina

I have my own bathroom now. Can you believe it? I haven't had to share for long, but still feels great to call it mine again. ~Sabrina

Sam's room is the same though. ~Sabrina

Changed the loveseat to a sofa and bought a bigger TV. I added a half wall to separate the kitchen from the family room. The kitchen got an upgrade as well, but I'll post a better photo for that. ~Sabrina

New everything for the kitchen LOL. Stove, refrigerator, counters, sink, window, and even a popcorn maker now. Added a door to the backyard. ~Sabrina

Part of the backyard is a mini yoga section, which I have wanted to learn for awhile. ~Sabrina
Of course I have my garden area. It's so relaxing!! ~Sabrina
I want to work on losing a couple of pounds so I bought some equipment. ~Sabrina
I'm going to bed earlier than normal, but today was so exhausting. ~Sabrina

So glad Sabrina finished the work early because I helped and it's harder than it looks. !Sam!

I can't believe he divorced because I stuck up for my daughters. I thought he was a great guy. Where did I go wrong? Just so thankful Sabrina took me in when I abandoned her. I feel so horrible for what I've done. I don't know if I can live with myself seeing her every day knowing what I did. *A*
